What Is Brown Fused Alumina?
Brown Fused Alumina (BFA), also known as brown aluminum oxide, is a high-density, tough abrasive material produced by fusing bauxite in an electric arc furnace. Its high Al2O3 content makes it suitable for grinding, blasting, and refractory applications.
Typical Chemical Composition
- Al2O3: ≥95%
- SiO2: ≤1.5%
- Fe2O3: ≤0.5%
FEPA Grit Sizes Available
We offer macro and micro grit sizes from F12 to F220, suitable for blasting, grinding wheels, and casting molds.
Key Industrial Applications
- Abrasive Blasting: For surface cleaning and preparation of steel, castings, and ship hulls
- Precision Grinding: As bonded grain in grinding wheels and cutting discs
- Refractories: Filler and aggregate in shaped/unshaped refractory products
Buying Considerations
When sourcing BFA for industrial use, consider:
- Grit size and distribution range
- Packaging options (25kg bags, 1-ton jumbo bags)
- Third-party certifications (ISO 9001:2015, COA, MSDS)
