Brown Fused Alumina for Investment Casting

High-purity alumina media for ceramic shell building in precision casting applications.

Brown fused alumina used in investment casting shells

Why Use BFA in Investment Casting?

Investment casting, also known as precision casting or lost-wax casting, demands extremely clean, high-performance shell building materials. Brown fused alumina (BFA) is used in stucco and flour stages of shell mold formation due to its thermal shock resistance, chemical stability, and angular morphology that promotes good slurry bonding.

  • Excellent shell strength and dimensional precision
  • Low thermal expansion and high refractoriness
  • Minimizes inclusion and surface defects in castings
